Professor Alan Cooper’s dermatology training was at Royal North Shore Hospital and the Mayo Clinic, where he obtained Board certification in dermatology for the United States. He was clinical superintendent at Royal North Shore Hospital after returning from America, before being appointed as a Visiting Medical Officer (VMO).
Professor Copper most recently worked as the Head of Department of Dermatology at the Royal North Shore Hospital and Clinical Associate Professor of Dermatology at the Northern Clinical School of the University of Sydney.
His earliest involvement with Epiderm was as Secretary General of the 19th World Congress of Dermatology. In this capacity, he served ten year terms on the Boards of the International League of Dermatological Societies (ILDS) and the International Foundation for Dermatology.
Professor Cooper has served several terms on the Council (Board of Directors) of the College and was the Honorary Secretary for four years from 1998 to 2002.
